450 Main Event Result – 2022 Detroit Supercross

Justin Bogle took the holeshot at the start of the race, with the rest of the pack labouring in the first turn. Second place was a tussle between Justin Barcia and Marvin Musquin, although Jason Anderson was eyeing the spot as well. Bogle was getting on Justin Barcia’s nerves, so he gave him a love tap on the inside of one of the berms. After catching up via the whoops, Justin Barcia would seize the lead. Bogle’s chances began to fade as Jason Anderson, Cooper Webb, and Marvin Musquin made consecutive passes on the Suzuki driver.

Jason Anderson made the pass on Barcia at the turn following the whoops with 15 minutes left. Cooper Webb began to reduce the gap, but Eli Tomac began to close the gap quickly without anybody noticing. The bend after the whoops is a hot site for passes, as Eli took third place from Cooper Webb. Eli then did the same thing to Justin Barcia less than a lap later. Malcolm Stewart moved into fourth place by passing Cooper Webb.

With around ten minutes remaining, Eli passed Jason Anderson for the lead. As Barcia and Webb ran through the whoops, Malcolm Stewart got loose, but took sure not to gain any positions. Cooper Webb and Chase Sexton’s night would turn sour after Webb missed a triple, resulting in Chase falling on Webb. With six minutes remaining, Jason Anderson took his helmet off and struck the deck hard.

Cooper Webb proceeded to roll everything while riding with his left hand off the bike. As Dylan Ferrandis and his mechanic skidded off the track, the pandemonium continued. Marvin went down in a turn with a minute left on the clock, his vizor dangling in front of his face. Cooper Webb, a comrade, finished the marathon after a valiant effort to keep going. The Main Event would be won by Eli Tomac.

Chase Sexton took the lead, followed by Eli Tomac and Marvin Musquin in second and third, respectively. Brandon Hartranft, Justin Starling, and Vince Friese would fight it out, but Brandon would lose after OJ’ing one of the rhythm sections. In the second Heat Race, Eli Tomac would take punches at Chase’s lead, but not much else would happen. After Chase made a near pass on Harmon and then landed on the side of a tuff block, the two-second lead vanished mysteriously.

After missing a whoop and landing on a tuff block, Chase Sexton would have a big get-off. Chase Sexton sprang to his feet swiftly and finished second to Eli.
