After Motocross, Hero joins hands with Hemanth Muddappa to Promote Drag Races in India

Hero is bringing some good news for Motorsport enthusiasts in India. The Indian brand has joined hands with Hemanth Muddappa, 9 times National Drag Race winner to promote drag races in India. Hemanth has been made the new brand ambassador of Hero Xtreme 160R.

About Hemanth Muddappa:

Hemanth Muddappa met with an accident in 2019, where doctors speculated that he will not be able to walk again, but owing to Hemanth’s sheer will to race, he recovered in around 6 months and went back to racing. Such a strong-willed racer is now the face of Hero’s drag racing scenario in India.

Hemanth is the nine-time National Drag Racing Champion who recently set the National record and won the National Championship in top-two classes at the third and final round of the MMSC FMSCI Indian National Motorcycle Drag Racing Championship held at the Madras Motor Race Track. In 2021, Hemanth bagged double gold in the 2021 Drag National title, marking his fifth consecutive win at the premier Super Sport 1051cc and above class.

Muddappa set a new record with his black Suzuki Hayabusa, clocking 7.749 seconds and reaching 239.58 km/h at the end of the 302-meter Madras Motor Race Circuit. In the SuperSport 851cc to 1050cc category, Hemanth Muddappa won by a comfortable margin and set a new record with a timing of 7.755 seconds.

To promote drag racing in India, both Hemanth and Hero Motocorp will be organising the XDrags Drag Racing event in India. Till now both the parties have organised and hosted over 16 XDrags Drag races.

Hero’s Xtreme 160R is claimed to be the fastest 0-60kmph accelerating machine in its segment. On the partnership of Hemanth with Hero Motorcorp, Mr Ranjivjit Singh, Chief Growth Officer, Hero MotoCorp said, “We are delighted to welcome Hemanth as a new addition to our team. We heartily congratulate him for his recent wins. Muddappa’s presence bolsters our commitment to the advancement of drag racing culture in India, which hasn’t been fully explored so far. Drag racing is the shortest and quickest form of motorsports and the Hero Xtreme 160R, the fastest to 0-60 km/h in its segment, is a perfect fit for this racing format.”

Hero Motocorp has been making some swift strides toward promoting Motorsport in India. After promoting motocross and dirt biking with their Xpulse 200 series, this time they are promoting drag races with their Hero Xtreme 160R series. Safe to say, Hero is working hard to break the stigma of it being a mere common riders’ machine and aiming at many niche segments.
