Animoca Becomes Acquires the Naming Rights of MotoGP Australia and Aragon

On Wednesday, Animoca Brands announced that it has agreed with Dorna Sports to acquire the naming rights to the MotoGP Grand Prix of Australia and Aragon. The Gran Premio Animoca Brands de Aragon and the Animoca Brands Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix will be the names of the two MotoGP races.

Since 2019, Animoca Brands has been an official partner of MotoGP. The gaming venture capital business now has the rights to create NFTs and MotoGP Ignition, a competitive management and collectables game platform.

On June 8, Animoca Brands announced on its website that it has reinforced its collaboration with Dorna Sports, the commercial rights holder for Grand Prix racing, by securing title sponsorships for two Grand Prix seasons.

This season, the gaming company will be the title sponsor of MotoGP races in Aragon and Australia, as well as two additional events in 2023.

Yat Siu, co-founder and executive chairman of Animoca Brands hopes the name rights will help Animoca Brands’ REVV Motorsports racing blockchain games gain traction, with REVV serving as the gaming ecosystem’s principal coin.

Marc Saurina, senior director of global commercial partnerships at Dorna Sports, praised the cooperation and welcomed Animoca as the title sponsor for MotoGP Grand Prix events. He was also honoured to contribute sponsorship and be a part of the REVV Motorsport ecosystem.

Many sports organisations and teams have accepted cryptocurrency businesses as sponsors and partners as a result of the cryptocurrency boom. The crypto exchange FTX purchased the naming rights to the Miami Heat basketball venue, now known as FTX Arena, for 19 years last year. In addition, FTX has bought the naming rights to California Memorial Stadium, which is home to the Golden Bears of California.

This year, Crypto.com was named an official sponsor of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, and Algorand, a blockchain firm, was named a FIFA sponsor and technical partner.
