Dovizioso dissects his grip on bike and how he is trying to cope up
Andrea Dovizioso who had been battling in the MotoGP championship looking to find his sweer spot explained the difficulty after battling Franco Morbidelli for a distant 15th place in COTA but still second-best Yamaha behind MotoGP champion Fabio Quartararo.
Dovizioso and Morbidelli finished 29 seconds behind Enea Bastianini of Gresini Ducati and 22.5 seconds behind Quartararo, who was once again head-and-shoulders ahead of the other Yamahas to at least save seventh place.
“If you wait 29 seconds… It’s difficult. It’s a challenge. However, I have nothing fresh to say. We understand why we aren’t competitive, what I need to do differently, and why only Fabio is capable of doing it,” Dovizioso added.
“It’s a big problem because the gap is so wide.” He was clearly disappointed by the way his performances had been in the recent times which do not seem going in his favour. There is a clear amount of frustration with his performance.
Andrea Dovizioso is clearly frustrated with the problems he had been having with the bike. This is particularly evident with the low grip. This has been repeated by Dovizioso as well as his team mate Quartararo. In fact Dovizioso has been all praise about his team mate Quartararo and the way he manages to ride on that bike so fast despite the same set up of narrow bike.
Dovizioso said that its not about the bike but the rear grip which matters most especially in competitive racing. That is where he has struggled. It is time for him to look up to the times he has had success in the past with the likes of Ducati and find the secret mantra of success with Yamaha as well. “It all comes down to technique” is what he was quoted as saying as he looks for success ahead.
