From a Mechanic to a Dakar Rider: Nico
As we come to the end of 2022, the coming year brings us closer to the new season of the Dakar Rally. The 2023 Dakar Rally is being speculated as full of surprises and a new lineup of enduro riders participating in one of the world’s toughest motor-vehicle rallies.
Nico is one of the new names confirmed to debut at the 2023 Dakar Rally. He has worked as a mechanic at Eurol Rally Sport, and now he will be representing the team on some of the toughest terrains in the world.
He worked as Pascal de Baar’s onboard technician at the Oilibya Rally in 2015, while Eurol Rally Sport was still known as Mammoet Rally Sport. De Baar finished eighth, and teammate Martin van den Brink won Mammoet’s first-ever international race. Van den Brink and his son Mitchel, who participated in the 2022 Rally in a Trakker, will each drive their own trucks for Dakar.
