Gaurav Gill to Participate in WRC Acropolis Rally Greece

India is making some advancements in the field of Motorsport. Gaurav Gill, the only Indian driver on the grid is all set to participate in the enduring World Rally Championship (WRC) calendar-Acropolis Rally Greece scheduled from September 8-11, 2022.

JK Tyre’s racer Gaurav Gill will be accompanied by co-driver Gabriel Morales from Brazil in his third WRC expedition.

Acropolis Rally, also commonly known as the Rally of Gods will be 1192 km long with 16 special stages of 303km. Acropolis Rally is infamous for the scorching heat, and unforgiving terrains the rally drivers have to face before crossing the finishing line.

A 2-kilometre quick-fire opener super special stage will be held on Thursday at the renowned Olympic Stadium in the Greek capital Athens in front of an anticipated crowd of 60 000 spectators. This stage will serve as the introduction to the ensuing three days of rigorous combat.

Gaurav Gill is currently 70th on the list of the world’s best Rally drivers. He had a spectacular performance in Rally Finland, completing the rally successfully and, aside from the five stages where he lost time owing to fuel pump crises, finishing the remaining 17 stages 20 to 25 seconds behind the class leader every 10 kilometres. Gill exhibited to the top rally racers how skilled he is at navigating difficult terrain.
