Honda Announces Racing Team for International Racing Championships 2022

Honda Announces Racing Team for International Racing Championships 2022

For a long time, the FIM Asia Road Racing Championship has been one of the region’s finest modified production motorcycle-based championships, analogous to British Superbike in England and MotoAmerica in the United States. The tournament will resume in 2022 after a two-year hiatus due to the epidemic. Honda India has been competing in the championship with a squad of young Indian riders since 2017, intending to discover the greatest Indian motorcycle racing talent. The team will field two riders in the Asia Production 250cc class for the 2022 season, riding customised Honda CBR250RRs. Rajiv Sethu, who has been with the club since 2017, as well as Senthil Kumar, who joined the championship in 2019, return. The two riders had a successful career in India, having won various INMRC events. The aim for both cyclists is to place in the top ten.

In the Thailand Talent Cup 2022, Honda will have two Indian riders. The tournament serves as a feeder series, allowing emerging riders to get noticed by higher-level competition. Kavin Quintal, 16, of Chennai, who won Honda’s own India Talent Cup in 2021, and Sarthak Chavan, 15, of Pune, who won the India Talent Cup in 2020, will represent the Idemitsu Honda Racing squad in this cup. They’ll be riding the Honda NSF250R, a Moto3-spec motorcycle.

Rajiv Sethu, a seasoned rider, continues to lead the Honda Racing India squad. Rajiv has demonstrated amazing consistency since his arrival at ARRC in 2017. Rajiv has his sights set on breaking new personal records once again, having risen from 46th place in his first year to 27th in 2018 and finishing the 2019 season in 17th place with two Top-10 and nine Top 15 finishes.

Senthil Kumar, a 20-year-old rider, will join Rajiv in the Honda Racing India pit. Senthil began his ARRC career in 2019 and placed 30th in the AP250 class of championship in his first season. The rider had good performances in the Thailand Talent Cup in 2018. (his first time at international racing).

The most significant impediment to the development of a legendary Indian rider for international competition has been his late debut into professional racing. Honda, on the other hand, is contesting this by accelerating the career development of young Indian riders with great promise.

The announcement will undoubtedly give prospective young motorcycle racers in the nation a great boost, as they will now know that Honda has built a way for them to climb the motorsport ladder while remaining financially feasible. The first round of pre-season testing and the opening round of the tournament will take place in Thailand on March 22nd, 2022.
