Honda is in downwards spiral
Honda is undeniably far from the performances that everyone in MotoGP is used to, finishing sixth and last among manufacturers heading into the summer break with just one podium in 11 races.
Aside from Marc Marquez’s fourth-place finish in the Spanish GP, Pol Espargaro (Repsol Honda) was the only other manufacturer to finish in the top five. This includes satellite LCR Honda, as each manufacturer only considers a rider’s best finish when riding its bike.
Honda is in last place overall after 11 races, trailing Ducati, Yamaha, Aprilia, KTM, and Suzuki with only 85 points. Although the Japanese had difficult seasons in 2020 and 2021, their performance was not as meagre as it was this year.
Honda finished fifth with 104 points after 11 rounds in 2020 with two podium finishes, whereas they were also fifth the previous year with 117 points, which included a victory.
