Hyundai Makes a Comeback!

This season was a rollercoaster ride for Hyundai. Hyundai came late to the party when WRC announced Hybrid Engine regulations for the participating Rally 1 vehicles. Not only this, the team received a shock when the team principal Andrea Adamo decided to leave due to some personal reasons. There was a delay in the development of the i20N series Rally 1 car.

However, despite all the drawbacks and delays, the Hyundai team managed to secure 4 wins. Before Neuville brought Tanak and Dani Sordo home at this weekend’s notoriously gruelling Acropolis Rally Greece, Ott Tanak had led the team’s assault with victories in Sardinia, Finland, and Belgium. This culminated in an incredible turnaround.

Moncet, the team principal of the Hyundai team considers that all the hardships the Hyundai team had to endure in Kenya in June, were the result of its impeccable performance in Greece.

Moncet stated he never lost faith in his squad to improve its form after a challenging start to the WRC’s Rally1 era, despite the reliability concerns and internal battles inside the organisation surrounding its leadership.
