It will be Better if We Bid KymiRing Goodbye for the Sake of MotoGP

It will be Better if We Bid KymiRing Goodbye for the Sake of MotoGP

MotoGP races are very exhilarating. The speed, the sound of the bike and the sharp turns, all these things make MotoGP worth the fan following it has. The premier motorcycle race travels around the world and takes place on various tracks around the globe, not only providing the racers with a new challenge but boosting the economy of various nations.

There are many famous tracks around the world which pose a serious challenge for even the world champions of the MotoGP. Be it Britain, or Assen, each track is unique in its way, providing fresh challenges to the riders.

Among all the famous tracks, there is one track which is yet to provide the thrill to the riders and the audience, KymiRing. KymiRing is one of the most anticipated tracks for all MotoGP enthusiasts, yet not a single MotoGP race has taken place in it. And we fear that it is long that we might have to bid KymiRing goodbye.

The track had been scheduled to host its inaugural Grand Prix in 2020, however, two years later, no races have taken place, and the 2022 race was cancelled in May.

The Paijat-Hame District Court decided against the track’s proprietors earlier this week in a bankruptcy petition filed by construction firms, two of which claim they are due unpaid invoices totalling €600,000. This is according to local media.

The news is a further setback for the struggling track, which has been beset by persistent rumours that incomplete construction was at least partially to blame for the 2022 postponement.

But it’s difficult to imagine that the venue would debut on the schedule in the upcoming years given that the track has already entered administration and that work still has to be done to homologate it to MotoGP standards.

The Circuit of Wales in Britain, a failed venue in Rio de Janeiro, the Balatonring in Hungary, and several tracks in Indonesia before the construction of the new Mandalika Bay venue are just a few examples of similar failed circuit projects that have been given provisional MotoGP calendar slots but never materialised.
