Marc Marquez Made Stefan Bradl Insecure

Marc Marquez Made Stefan Bradl Insecure

Stefan Bradl, the test rider of MotoGP Repsol Honda was a good rider. In 2017, on one fine day, Bradl decided to move on from MotoGP to try his luck in World Superbike Racing. Recently in a documentary named ‘Behind the Dream’ by HRC, Bradl admitted that moving away from MotoGP and getting on to WSBK was the biggest mistake of his life. He also revealed that he was jealous of Marc Marquez.

Bradl made the jump from full-time racing to become the new Honda MotoGP test rider after only one season of racing for the Red Bull Honda World Superbike Team.

Bradl and the satellite Honda WorldSBK project, which was transformed into a full factory outfit for 2019, had extremely unsatisfactory results, but they also had to deal with the death of teammate Nicky Hayden, who unfortunately passed away in May 2017 after suffering injuries in a bicycle accident.

Stefan Bradl and Marc Marquez have good chemistry now, but this was not the case back in 2013 and 2014 when both the riders were considered to be the arch nemesis of each other on the track. Bradl revealed that he was jealous of the world champion Marc Marquez joining the premier class while he was still with satellite Honda LCR time at that time.

Bradl said: “Ten years ago I would not come to this [Marquez’s] room, I would say ‘wrong address’. I was jealous when Marc came to MotoGP. [He] was way faster. I had no answer, how can I be faster than this guy?”

After Marquez returned to the track earlier this week at the two-day Misano test, Bradl, who has been filling in for Marquez since the Italian MotoGP at Mugello, may soon resume his testing duties.

With 60 points, 14 more than Takaaki Nakagami, Marquez is still the top Honda rider in the championship despite missing the last six races.
