McRae Wants to Enter in WRC
Son of former WRC champion Alister, Max McRae is eyeing getting into World Rally Championship. McRae has completed 100 miles in M-Sport Poland-built four-wheel drive Fiesta on asphalt roads.
The rally comes after the driver’s debut in the British Rally Championship in the Nicky Grist Stages event last month and a run at the Donegal International Rally while travelling from his home country of Australia, where he has been competing in the Australian Rally Championship.
The test in the Rally3 car, according to McRae, has persuaded him that the JWRC is the next natural step in his rally career. He already has plans to enter the championship the following year.
McRae will now travel back to Australia for the Gippsland Rally (27/28 August) round of the Australian Rally Championship. He will operate a Subaru Impreza WRX that has been modified by Maximum Motorsport.
McRae’s father and uncle were WRC drivers, which gives him a slight edge over the other drivers. His uncle, Colin, a 1995 WRC winner, climbed into a Ford Fiesta Rally3 vehicle last week to make his JWRC debut in Poland.
