New battles line drawn post Indonesian MotoGP

So finally Indonesian MotoGP race is over and well the second race was challenging defrinitely. When it comes to a race be it in Formula 1 or MotoGP rain is one natural factor that really alters the equation. The same happened today at this race. It was a race that did not start as expected. First and foremost, the race started around 55 minutes late due to cliched phrase “Its raining cats and dogs”. This kind of scenario always puts the pressure on the team to choose the tyres and all of the teams opted for Michelin. Anyways the race did start well for the pole position holder Quartararo but by the time his first turn was done the pressure was on for Ducati. Also as mentioned earlier after the practise session the pressure on the pole leader Quartararo was there from the very beginning. However, it was all down to the way how ones take on the pressure. The circuit of Mandalika is being used after 1997 and the circuit came with its own set of challenges. However definitely the race was between Quartararo and Oliveira about whom more needs to be said. This Portuguese driving on Red Bull KTM kept pace and had a very well thought out and clean race in terms of the competition. The pace was good and although Miller overtook Quartararo in the first overtake apart from the pressure of Zarco in the pack making a very close fought race. The next part lets us find about Marquez and how he performed.

He is definitely going through one of the toughest phases in his career and if there is anything to go by for his current race it went from just bad to worse. It began with his dismal qualifying performance where he finished 14th. In the race itself he just got even worse as he could not start getting ruled out with concussion during the warm up session. Overall, it has been a horrible weekend for him. Therefore, him being ruled out definitely is a blow to Yamaha and him of course personally. As for the points collection from this race in terms of the constructor’s championship Ducati would be really pleased. Yamaha had atleast got points with a podium finish from Quartararo. He however had a slight contact and tiff with Miller during and after the race. However, this race leaves us with a lot more questions to ask now. That is right now after the second race Quartararo who finished on top of the driver’s standings last year and currently in third behind Bastianini and Binder of Ducati and KTM makes for an interesting read with the season just getting started. In terms of the teams Repsol Honda, Grescini Racing and Red Bull are in top three but the equation is surely going to change. There are high chances of Bastianini., Quartararo, Miller, Oliveira to have a tooth and nail fight for the driver’s championship and yes Marquez may still win the bet at the last minute.
