Nithila Das Breaks Gender Stereotype at FIM MiniGP World Series India 2022

Nithila Das, a 12-year-old from Bengaluru, discovered a passion for biking at a young age. It was somewhat of a dream come true for the Bengaluru-based girl when she made her debut at the Meco Kartopia circuit in the Garden City and won the opening round of the FIM MiniGP World Series India 2022 with flying colours.

For the record, the MiniGP Series was introduced in 2021 as part of the Road To MotoGP programme by FIM, the world governing body for two-wheeler racing, in collaboration with Dorna Sports, the commercial rights holder of MotoGP.

Nithila, the lone female competitor among the four riders in the first round at the Meco Kartopia track in Bengaluru on July 23 and 24, finished both races in sixth and fifth place.

It should come as no surprise that Nithila’s brother is interested in taking up racing after growing up in a family of avid fans, even though he is willing to play the waiting game because the series is only open to drivers over the age of 10.
