Quartararo and Yamaha relationship to continue?

Quartararo and Yamaha relationship to continue?

Following Yamaha’s inability to improve its present package, Quartararo, who has only one top five finish in the first four MotoGP races, appears to be in for a difficult remainder of the 2022 season.

While the M1 remains one of the most wellbalanced vehicles on the grid, the Frenchman’s top speed issues have continued to plague him, as he consistently finishes around the bottom of the top speed charts

Also playing a huge role in his failure to deliver a win thus far is the lack of grip at three of the four rounds.

Mandalika seemed to suggest Quartararo and Yamaha found their form, and while the 22 year-old was at times fast in Argentina, so to Austin, when it mattered most the current world champion had no answer for the likes of Ducati, Aprilia and Suzuki.

Quartararo, who rarely crashes (his tumble during qualifying at COTA was his first of the season), went past the limit in an attempt to out-qualify a quintet of Ducatis – which he failed to achieve – causing his race to be ruined.

Because the Yamaha struggles to overtake other bikes due to top-end issues and a lack of grip on circuits where grip is difficult to come by, Quartararo’s weekends tend to be highly influenced by his starting position.

“So, if I can help in any way, I will. What I can do is give it my all and attempt to make a difference “”It’s the best.”

When asked about his thoughts on the bike, Quartararo was even more succinct: “I will keep it for myself.”

Quartararo’s quest to win back-to-back titles are already looking difficult, as he is clearly irritated, disgruntled, and annoyed by the lack of progress.

It may be more difficult for Quartararo to join Ducati because current championship leader Enea Bastianini and Pramac rider Jorge Martin are expected to compete for the factory seat with Francesco Bagnaia, but signing a world champion would be a major show of commitment.

All indications lead to Quartararo staying at Yamaha, although weirder things have happened.
