Red Bull Rider Pedro Acosta Heads for Surgery after he Breaks his Leg

The Red Bull KTM Ajo rider’s shattered left femur will be operated on Wednesday, according to the team. He will miss the Dutch Moto2 this weekend, but no timetable for his comeback has been set.

However, according to El Periodico, Acosta will only miss one race because Moto2 has a five-week vacation following Assen before returning on August 7 at Silverstone.

According to the same story, the 18-year-old was injured while riding motocross and is currently in Barcelona undergoing surgery.

In the Moto2 standings, Acosta is now seventh.

He is the current Moto3 champion, having been the first rookie to win a world championship since Loris Capirossi last year.
