Rovanpera Returns to His Home Track to Take on WRC!

Rovanpera Returns to His Home Track to Take on WRC!

After winning in Sweden, Croatia, Portugal, Kenya and Estonia, the Toyota driver Rovanpera is set to dominate his home track at Finland WRC.

Rally Finland is one of the most unforgiving WRC tracks with some of the most challenging road stretches and countless crests. It is truly a test of the mettle of any WRC driver. But, the 21-year-old WRC champion Rovanpera said that he is treating Rally Finland as any other rally. Though there will be some advantages as it is his home rally track.

Rovanpera has dominated the WRC world by commanding an 83-point lead over nearest rival Hyundai’s Thierry Neuville.

Toyota team principal Jari-Matti-Latvala is happy with the performance of Rovanpera and said that he will not be having any extra expectations from Rovanpera as he takes on Rally Finland.

However, Ott Tanak, a two-time winner, and Craig Breen, who placed third at the competition last year, will be competing for Hyundai and M-Sport Ford, respectively, and might pose a serious threat to Rovanpera.

His biggest opponent may be Elfyn Evans and Lappi, who are planning to sabotage the championship leader’s return to his Toyota squad.

Lappi’s lone WRC victory came on home soil in 2017 while participating in his debut season with Toyota. Evans upset the WRC field in Finland last year to earn arguably his biggest career victory to date.
