Tanak Beats All Odds at WRC Finland

Tanak Beats All Odds at WRC Finland

Tanak has once again proved his mettle by winning one of the most challenging and exciting Rally Finland. Given Tanak’s troubles with Hyundai in the past WRC races, the win was a sweet surprise for Tanak fans.

The WRC world champion managed to defeat the rival fleet of Toyota and ultimately another racer with high expectations to win, Rovanpera. The attack mode of Tanak managed to get an edge over his rival Rovanpera and finally beat him by a total of 6.8 seconds, in his home track!

Just two weeks prior, on comparable gravel stages in Estonia, Tanak finished nearly two minutes behind winner Rovanpera, highlighting the i20 N’s inferior outright performance versus the GR Yaris.

After winning consecutive Rally Finland events in 2018 and 2019 while racing for Toyota, Tanak achieved his third victory in the event.

Hyundai’s second-in-command Julien Moncet praised Tanak’s efforts in bringing home the team’s maiden victory in the Rally Finland.

Rovanpera said that his run wasn’t ideal but tried his best to try to reduce Tanak’s lead on his throw.

In the i20 N, Neuville showed hints of increased speed and finished ahead of Lappi and Evans, who had decided not to take any needless chances. Neuville had the third-fastest time.

Despite struggling with a lack of grip, Greensmith put out a solid effort to edge off colleague Loubet and appear to secure seventh place overall.
