The FIM Oceania Motocross Championship 2022 begins in Australia

FIM Oceania is the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme’s regional representation in the Oceania area. The organization collaborates closely with the FIM and member countries to create and implement sound strategy and development strategies for motorcycle sports throughout Oceania. FIM Oceania and Motorcycling Australia have teamed up to launch a new off-road racing series.

The 2022 FIM Oceania Motocross Championship began on March 27, 2022, in Australia, and will see the winner of the ProMX THOR MX1 Championship take home the title of FIM Oceania Champion. The new racing series will help to foster the expansion of Australia’s off-road racing industry, notably motocross. However, it is open to competitors from all over the world who want to fight for the title of FIM Oceania Motocross Champion.

During the final rounds of the Penrite ProMX Championship in Coolum, Queensland, the FIM Oceania Motocross Championship awards will be awarded. AMX Superstores will present them, and they will be based on the THOR MX1 Championship points. The inaugural round of the ProMX Championship was placed in Wonthaggi, Victoria, on March 27, 2022, and included some of the country’s fastest 450cc MX1 riders.

FIM Oceania President Peter Doyle emphasised the new motocross racing series’ potential to further improve motorcycle sport in the area, saying, “The role of FIM Oceania is to further develop Motorcycle Sport in the Oceania region at all levels through official FIM Oceania Championships and FIM Oceania programs. The ProMX Championship is set to be outstanding in 2022 and FIM Oceania is excited to be able to be part of it and to crown an FIM Oceania Champion through the incredibly talented field of riders in the THOR MX1 class.”

He went on to say that the new racing series is an exciting chance for Australian racers, as well as up-and-coming racers from throughout the area, to gain a well-deserved worldwide reputation.
