Could Yuki Tsunoda be replaced ?

After much debate over his Formula 1 future, Pierre Gasly has been confirmed as an alpha Tauri driver for next season, however, the team boss of alpha Tauri revealed that his teammate Yuki Tsunoda could be replaced if he doesn’t put in good performances for the remainder of the season.

Speaking to the media, Franz Tost said. “If he continues as he did during the season, apart from crashing, I think that he has a good chance to stay with us,”

“It depends on him. If he shows a good performance he will stay, if he doesn’t show a good performance, he is out. Totally easy.”

“I like problem childs because these are the real good child who can make something out of it. I don’t like the holy childs,” said Tost at a press conference, asked about the fall-out from the Silverstone clash with Gasly.

“Yuki made a mistake, he knew it and he will work on this. He is still in his development process. He is fast and he will do his way. It takes a little bit of time.

“Yuki got a little bit too impatient, tried to out-brake Pierre, lost the rear and crashed into him. And immediately after the race I called Yuki into my office and told him this is absolutely no-go and he has to be more disciplined and patient.

Tsunoda joined Formula 1 in 2020, this is his second season in the sport and it looks like he has been improving, but he still has moments when he loses his cool and runs out of patience. An example of that is at Silverstone when both of the Alpha Tauris were running in 7th & 8th, then Yuki tried to out-brake Pierre and crashed into him.

It’s moments like these that will probably make or break the young driver’s F1 career.
