Which Budget Adventure Touring Bike to Buy in India?

Which Budget Adventure Touring Bike to Buy in India?

The adventure touring segment is booming in India. With many brands on the bandwagon, adventure enthusiasts have a fair amount of bikes to choose from. But, with so many options in the market, the confusion and dilemma about choosing the bike are natural.

Well, here we will help you to choose your adventure machine from a bunch of options.

1. Royal Enfield Himalayan:

RE Himalayan has been in the Indian market for quite some time now. Also, the bike has managed to capture the attention of the adventure seekers all this while. Well, why not! RE is one of the most trustworthy brands in the Indian market.

RE Himalayan BS6 model boasts 411 CC single-cylinder air-cooled, SOHC Single, 2 valves engine. It churns out 24.3 hp @ 6,500 rpm of power and 32 Nm @ 4000 – 4500 rpm of torque. RE Himalayan also comes equipped with dual-channel non-switchable ABS.

Now the catch here is, that the bike undoubtedly is one of the most rider-friendly motorcycles, but it has a 5-speed gearbox. Now it might not be a deal-breaker, but having one more gear gets handier while touring on long stretches. Also having a switchable ABS helps in better manoeuvring while tackling off-roads.

2. Yezdi Adventure:

Yezdi is an old school brand. The brand was revived by Mahindra Group’s Classic Legends last year after they relaunched Jawa in an all-new avatar.

Now, Yezdi has introduced 3 bikes, catering to different riders in India. Yezdi Adventure is the one we are looking for. Yezdi Adventure is a staunch competitor of RE Himalayan with some pros and cons over the Royal Enfield.

Yezdi Adventure BS6 model houses a 334 cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled motor. It develops 30.2PS and 29.9Nm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox and is housed in a double-cradle chassis. It comes equipped with dual-channel switchable ABS as well. Not only this, Yezdi Adventure comes with 3 riders mode as well!

Well, here Yezdi might seem to be a better choice over Himalayan. But given the service network, RE has across India, it easily wins the trust factor here. Also, apart from the price you will pay for the bike, you will have to shell out extra money for accessories like knuckle-guards, windshields as well as pioneer holders.

3. Hero Xpulse 200 4v:

Hero introduced its first adventure bike series back when no one knew what adventure riding is. Yes, you guessed it right, the Impulse series. The bike was too early for the Indian market. A few years fast forward, Hero introduced its Xpulse 200 series.

Now, the Xpulse is one of the most affordable ADVs in the Indian market. Given the price point it comes at, the features in the bikes are way too tempting! Hero Xpulse comes with a 199.6 cc single-cylinder oil-cooled engine, producing max power of 18.8 bhp @ 8500 rpm and 17.35 Nm @ 6500 rpm. It comes with single-channel ABS and a turn-by-turn navigation feature.

Now on paper, the bike might seem a bit underpowered, but it is a practical bike! It is best suited for those who are stepping into the world of adventure touring segment. The suspensions on the bike are plush and it can do pretty much everything an off-roader should do.

4. KTM Adventure 390:

If we talk about one of the most advanced adventure touring machines, it is KTM Adventure 390. The bike is a beast when it comes to power delivery, yet houses almost every modern amenities high-end bikes have. The best part is, that KTM Adventure 390 is Dakar inspired!

It comes with a single-cylinder 373 cc Liquid-Cooled engine which churns out 42.3 bhp @ 9,000 rpm power and torque of 37 Nm @ 7,000 rpm, paired with a 6-speed gearbox and slipper clutch. The bike comes equipped with dual-channel switchable ABS. Not only this, the bike comes with Cornering ABS, Traction Control and Quickshifter.

The only downside of the bike is its height. The bike is not recommended for anyone below the height of 5.6 feet.
