Will Joan Mir Participate in Misano GP?
After Marc Marquez, it is Joan Mir who will be out from the next MotoGP race due to an injury. Joan Mir suffered severe injuries in his crash on Sunday in Austrian Grand Prix.
The world champion Mir crashed at turn 4 as he was thrown off the bike at the highlap during the opening lap. After the crash, the rider was seen clutching his right ankle in pain. After he was rushed to the hospital, doctors declared ligament and bone damage in his right ankle. It will put him on bed rest for at least 15 days.
This means that Joan Mir will not be participating in Misano Grand Prix, but he is aiming for Aragon GP if he recovers fast enough. Even after recovery, returning to the original form takes some time, so a couple of races might be a bit tough for the world champion.
The optimum replacement for Joan Mir seems to be Sylvain Guintoli. He also received hand injuries during his crash in preparing for Suzuka 8 hours race.
Addressing the condition of Joan Mir, team manager Livio Suppo said, “I’m very sorry for Joan. Problems continue to arise during this difficult season. In any case, we should remain upbeat. The crash was really big and in the end the injury is a serious one, but it could have been worse, so let’s be positive and see how he will recover in the next 15 days to hopefully be ready for Aragón.”
Suzuki is already leaving MotoGP, and now with the injury of its star racer Joan Mir, it is likely that Suzuki will have to bid goodbye with struggling to win any more podiums. The only solution for the road to victory will be the faster and more efficient recovery of Joan Mir so that he can win more races and make Suzuki’s exit more memorable for everyone.
