Shardul Sharma, the First Indian to Participate at World’s Toughest Enduro Rally: Red Bull Romaniacs
Indian motorsport enthusiasts are finally waking up. From domestic to international events, the motorsport athletes have started to make India proud. This time India is being represented at World’s toughest Enduro Rally, Red Bull Romaniacs, and that too for the first time in history!
About Red Bull Romaniacs Hard Enduro Rally:
Hailed as the toughest Enduro Rally, Red Bull Romaniacs is an off-road event held annually in Romania. Started by Martin Freinademetz in 2004, each year, the enduro sport attracts over 50 riders from around the world.
The route passes through mountainous terrain, rocky terrain, hills, and valleys, avoiding asphalt as much as possible. Each day’s distance ranges between 100 and 180 kilometres, depending on the class that the racer competes in. The technical sections are the most difficult, leading through woodland regions where participants face natural terrain obstacles like trees, rocks, mud, and mountains. At around 70 km intervals, contenders refill their bikes and have the opportunity to replenish themselves at petrol fuel stops, often known as tank stops.
To ensure safety, the course is designated with banners, signs, and colourful markings, and it is loaded onto a GPS. There are also spectator areas that have been specifically created.
Shardul Sharma, the First Indian Ever to Participate in Red Bull Romaniacs Hard Enduro Rally:
The 28-year-old motorhead Shardul alias ‘Shas’ comes from the beautiful Dehradun valley. Shardul is one of the most fierce, and off-road extreme motorcycle riders in the entire Indian sub-continent.
Owing to the natural extreme terrain of the Uttarakhand region, Shardul has trained himself naturally to fit in the most extreme of off-road motorcycle riding.
Showing his interest in biking at the age of 4, made him one of the youngest off-roading motorcycle riders India has ever produced. Shardul has over 15 wins in his name and has trained off-road enthusiasts at India’s biggest riding school, Big Rock Dirt Park. All while, racing and bagging golds under his name.
Shardul also went on to become the only Indian at Red Bull Ace of Dirt 2022 to bag the podium position.
It is indeed a proud moment for us to finally have a deserving and truly talented motorsport athlete represent India at the World’s toughest enduro race.
We at Fervent motorsports wish Shardul Sharma all the best, and we are sure, that he will make India proud, not only in this race but in more international races ahead!
